Our mission is to not have a mission statement
*We don’t like pop‑ups that demand your deets before you’ve had a chance to look around, either. You’ll sign up when you’re ready.
I spent my childhood outside, in all seasons. Not in a feral “why didn’t the neighbors call CPS” way, but in the way kids did in the ‘burbs back in the early '70s. Barefoot all summer— on grass, gravel, hot asphalt, my bike. By August the soles of my feet were so tough you could’ve struck a match on the heel and lit the cigarette I’d quietly stolen from my older brother’s pack before heading out behind the shed with my little friends to give smoking a go. I didn’t come in until the porch light flicked on and off, which was the universal signal of the day. Only then would I come in to wash my feet in the bathroom sink, use the guest towel to dry, and hang it back up nicely before dinner. The things my mother never knew...
The very best memories of my life happened outdoors: eating grilled corn-on-the-cob, negotiating summer bedtimes with the same passion world leaders reserve for trade agreements, sitting around a fire with neighbors telling round-robin stories and finding out that when a guy says he's going to see a man about a horse, there’s…no horse. Mum had to grab my arm as I started to follow, wanting to see the horsey.
I was raised by parents who were children of the Great Depression. They had beautiful memories too — turns out joy isn’t tied to a bank balance. They saved up to buy the highest‑quality item they could afford because they believed in buying once and buying well. It’s just good sense. Buying cheap means buying twice — or three times, if you’re stubborn enough to keep believing the sale sign.
God knows, life happens everywhere, every minute. Outdoor life deserves furniture, grills, smokers, ovens and accessories that hold up under the talking, laughing, arguing, relaxing and remembering that happens on and around them.
Evergreen Al Fresco runs a tight catalog. If a product doesn’t meet the standard I was raised with, it won’t make the cut. If it’s flimsy, fussy, or destined to wobble itself into the afterlife, you won’t find it here.
So welcome to your outdoor life. Have a look around. Go ahead and use the guest towel, even. Just…not on your feet.
